Our principles
- Accuracy first. Get it right or wait.
- Independence. Editorial decisions are made by editors, full stop. Advertisers, sponsors and partners do not influence story selection or framing.
- Transparency. When we make a meaningful editorial decision, we explain it. When we err, we say so plainly.
- Respect for sources. We protect anonymity when promised. We do not record without consent. We do not use sources as PR channels for ourselves.
- Service to the reader. Our test for any story is whether it makes the reader’s understanding of the world better. If it doesn’t, we don’t run it.
